Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome Game Review pt. One

Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome

Honestly, this is the most ridiculous otome I’ve played, and it’s given me so many laughs. Right now, it’s something I throw on between games when I don’t have that much time and want to make sure that I don’t get pulled into a storyline I can’t put down (looking at you, Okazaki). Everything about this game is… extreme. The two love interests are polar opposites, but they’re best friends. The soft, obsessive masochist designer is juxtaposed against the harsh, bossy sadist cameraman. And then there’s the protagonist who is the extremely unenthused, antisocial, and lazy model. Altogether, they’re a bizarre team that fuels the crack-fic that is this entire game.

There are 20 endings and 2 extra scenes (one for each boy). However, some of the endings are incredibly fast to get to and don’t really even delve into the romance. In fact, there is an ending that starts from the very first choice- y’know, that ending that makes it so the story never happens. Then there are some endings that are ridiculously out there and complete surprises, which just adds to the fun and silliness of this game. Like, surprise, you joined a cult! Or, surprise, you became a pro wrestler!

In all seriousness though, I actually found myself drawn in and thoroughly amused. The silliness and perviness of this visual novel keep me hooked because I want to know what the next ridiculous ending will be, or when we’ll get to the steamy scenes (because, let’s face it, I’m a total perv). It’s a high-school drama that doesn’t follow suit with the “childish innocence” that often goes along with the genre. Sex isn’t just a thing that people wait until adulthood for- at this point, I feel like the majority of people lost their virginity in high school (at least, the majority of people I know). So the language, the bullying, the cattiness- it’s all weirdly believable despite how wild this game is.

I haven’t finished it yet, but so far, I’d say this game has been worth the time and money. At this point, I recommend waiting for it to go on sale, but I still recommend it.
